LED Bulbs in the Home Save Energy

The future of LED bulbs looks bright.

When trying to save energy in the home, many people look to their lighting fixtures and see wasted energy. Incandescent bulbs have been a staple in modern homes for decades, but their time is running out as the lighting leader. Efficiency standards are beginning to phase them out and their high energy use is making them unpopular. CFL bulbs looked like a worthy successor since they use far less electricity than incandescent bulbs, but their light output has a blue-green tint and they contain poisonous mercury. Recently, the true successor to incandescent light bulbs has emerged: LED Lighting. LED lights which use only around 10 watts of electricity but provide 60 watt brightness are already being sold to homes in Springfield. These bulbs provide similar lighting qualities to incandescent bulbs and they last many years longer. When shopping for bulbs trying out the newest LED style is a pretty bright idea.
