Springfield is constantly introducing new restaurants and businesses, all of which are becoming more and more unique than the next. Within the past few years we’ve welcomed a hand full of microbreweries to town, such as Tie & Timber Beer Co, 4 By 4 Brewing Company, Lost Signal Brewing Company, and Hold Fast Brewing.
We will soon see another micro brewery pop up in the Plaza Shopping Center at Sunshine and Glenstone. Prehistoric Brewing Company has been in the works for a few years and construction is finally underway. Founders Keith Davis, and Charley Norton, chose the name “Prehistoric Brewing” because they both have science degrees, and generally think prehistoric things have a wide appeal. Could we expect to see dinosaurs and woolly mammoths at this new brewery? We’ll find out soon!
In addition to the prehistoric inspired brewery coming to Springfield, we can expect to see a new taco shop. But this won’t be your average taco shop.
Taco Habitat will be an environmentally friendly restaurant that will be made of recycled, reused, and refurbished furniture, equipment, and fixtures wherever possible. Owner of Taco Habitat, Michael Felts, was inspired to create an environmentally friendly restaurant in hopes to reduce trash left in lakes, creeks, and the ocean. Felts jokes that the ingredients in his food will be like a “millennial catchphrase”: certified humane, local when available, organic, free-range, and grass-fed.
Taco Habitat will be located in the same lot as Lucky’s Market and is expected to open by years end. Along with another Taco Habitat location in Branson, Felts is planning a Branson expansion of the Springfield restaurant Hot Cluckers.
Be on the lookout for these unique and upcoming businesses! Be the first to try them out and share the news with friends and family!
