Nixa is a city in Christian County, Missouri, and is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. Nixa is located six miles south of Springfield, Missouri, and 30 miles north of Branson, Missouri, on Highway 160, just four miles west of U.S. Hwy 65.
As one of the fastest growing cities in Missouri, Nixa’s population has grown from a little town of 1,200, to a current population of 21,321. Nixa is a great community with a booming business scene and plenty of enjoyable activities. The Central Park of Nixa, McCauley Park boasts plenty of fun things to do for people of all ages. The playground is top notch. If you’re a parent, you might find yourself wishing they had something this cool when you were a kid, but please don’t try to join in the fun too much. The park is a also a lovely place for a stroll or a brisk jog on the 6/10ths of a mile paved path. If you’re up for a challenge, bring your frisbees out to enjoy the 18-hole disc golf course! Plus, keep an eye out for events at McCauley Park. There’s almost always something really cool coming up on the schedule!
The city is also home to an awesome aquatics center, a community center known as the X Center, and a golf course. Fremont Hills Golf Club is an 80-acre course lined with beautiful Bermuda Grass and tall trees that provides a good challenge for experienced golfers. The club also offers members a great culinary experience at its Grille and Pub. Summers at the River Sports Complex offers baseball and softball fields, volley ball courts, and a full service bar inside the clubhouse. You won’t find any other complex like Summers at the River for youth and recreational sports.
There are so many great, local places to eat in Nixa that you can’t find anywhere else. People in Nixa probably have tough decisions when picking out a place to go our for dinner, but that’s not a bad problem to have! It’s great to have so many delicious places to choose from. A few local favorites include, Morning Day Cafe, Piccolo’s contemporary Italian, and Rocco’s Pizza.
There are 12 schools in the Nixa School District which includes four elementary schools, a K-6 STEAM school, two intermediate schools, a junior high school, a high school, an early childhood program (housed in two schools), and an alternative high school. Serving 6,348 students, Nixa Public Schools is dedicated to a legacy of excellence to ensure all students achieve maximum potential and graduate with the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to succeed as productive, informed, confident, and engaged citizens in a global society.
