The activities and attractions in Springfield are endless! Known as the Grandaddy of all outdoor stores, Bass Pro Shops massive outdoor-themed experience is the number one tourist destination in Missouri. Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife Museum & Aquarium offers the ultimate education aquarium experience that is sure to WOW. The Discovery Center of Springfield has interactive science exhibits on topics from DNA to dinosaurs. To the north, Dickerson Park Zoo features animals from around the world, plus train rides. Trams run through a cave filled with stalagmites and flow-stones at Fantastic Caverns.

Through the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, the city offers 102 parks and Greenway Trails, a linear trail system that integrates with the city’s growing on-street bike route system. Parks range from large nature parks, to small neighborhood parks, to dog parks. The Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park has beautiful trails and botanical gardens. The city is also home to a minor-league baseball team, the Springfield Cardinals.

Schools

Springfield Public Schools is Missouri’s largest fully accredited school district. More than 24,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, nine middle schools, five high schools, Phelps Center for Gifted Education, and an Early Childhood Center.

Springfield is also home to globally recognized, Missouri State University, as well as Drury and Evangel Universities, and Ozarks Technical Community College.
