It can be fascinating to see the sleek, modern appliances on the market today — especially if you’re still using the same white appliances that came with the home you moved into years ago. From Smart appliances that are designed to make our lives easier, to “fashionable” appliances that enhance a kitchen’s design here are the top trends we’re seeing in 2022!

1. Smart Appliance Technology

Smart appliances are designed to give you complete control in and out of the kitchen. Smart appliances connect to a mobile app that will allow you to turn appliances on and off, control temperature, lighting, cook time, and more. The convenience of having your appliances connected to an app means you could do things like preheat your oven before you head home, or starting your dishwasher on-the-go.

3. Induction Ranges

As the movement towards energy efficiency and non-fossil fuel grows, we’ll expect to see more people adopting induction ranges. If you aren’t familiar, an induction stovetop heats food differently than other cooktops by using magnetic coils. When turned on, these coils create a magnetic current that attaches to an induction-compatible pot and heats it.

You can boil water in a minute and it offers very accurate, fast, and consistent heating. However, there is a learning curve for cooking and you will need to buy new pots and pans if you don’t already own cast iron or stainless-steel.

Besides being better for the environment and fast to cook, induction ovens are extremely safe to use. There is no open flame and the surface remains cool to touch during the cooking process. With induction cooking, only the cookware is heated. As an added bonus, they are easier to clean than traditional burners.

Induction cooktops are typically found on convection ovens. Don’t throw out your perfectly good gas range, but if you’re planning a remodel, consider an induction range.

4. Ovens with Extra Burners

It was once rare for a 30-inch range to come with more than four burners, but now you will find five on many gas and electric ranges.

That extra burner space is handy when cooking big meals. Many gas ranges feature an oblong fifth burner in the center of the range top and include a drop-in griddle designed to replicate a restaurant flattop — perfect for pancakes or grilled sandwiches.

GE Appliances 30″ Free-Standing Gas Range

A variety of brands offer electric and gas ranges with a 5th burner including: GE Appliances, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and Kenmore.

5. Ovens with Built-In Air Fry

While were on the topic of ovens, lets talk about ovens with built-in air fry technology. Brands such a Samsung, Maytag, LG, and Frigidaire offer ranges with an Air Fry mode to take your cooking up a notch. Using little to no oil, you can quickly prepare your favorite fried foods right in your oven.

Most models even include an Air Fry tray that is designed specifically for this feature and should be used whenever you need to make a fresh batch of something crispy and delicious. Now you can get rid of your bulky Air Fryer and consolidate two appliances into one!

6. Counter Depth Refrigerator

Whether you’re dealing with a tight kitchen space or just prefer a seamless look, a counter depth refrigerator is the way to go. A counter depth refrigerator will give the appearance of being built-in even though they are not. They are usually no more than 27 inches deep compared to standard depth refrigerators which range between 30 to 36 inches deep. Counter depth refrigerators tend to be more shallow than standard depth but will typically be wider or taller. This makes it easier to grab items near the back!

Don’t worry, you can install one of these without remodeling your entire kitchen as they are manufactured in a variety of sizes that will fit into most refrigerator spaces. So, if you want a seamless look in the kitchen that offers more walking space, opt for a counter depth refrigerator.

7. Craft Ice Refrigerator

If you’re an ice lover, a craft ice refrigerator was made for you! LG offers a Craft Ice Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Refrigerator that has dual ice makers. These dual ice makers automatically create standard ice cubes, crushed ice, and even slow-melting round Craft Ice cubes for all your entertaining needs. This means no more messing around with expensive and time-consuming ice molds.

8. Commercial-Style Appliances

High-end design makes commercial-style appliances ready to be well-used and well-loved. Elevate your kitchen with restaurant-inspired design you can see and feel.

Many people choose commercial appliances because they like the heavier, more industrial feel. Others install professional appliances because they have large families or regularly cook and host large gatherings in their homes.

If you like to explore new cuisines and techniques, commercial-style ranges bring the best of both form and functionality to help you create a gourmet experience at home. You can pair the range with a commercial vent hood to exhaust airborne grease and unpleasant odor.

9. Smart Washer & Dryer

Looking to simplify laundry day? Smart washers and dryers come with technology-based features that will streamline your routine. These elevated machines can be connected to your WiFi and operated through your smartphone. Once they are connected to a Smartphone app, you will be able to check washer and dryer progress, monitor cycles and settings, download custom specialty cycles and receive alerts when your cycle is complete.

Some Smart washers such as, GE appliances Smart washer with SmartDispense™ technology, can hold about a two-month supply of detergent and fabric softener and automatically dispense the right amount for each load. The same washer also has the ability to perform a “1 Step Wash + Dry” which will let you wash and dry a small load in your washer, eliminating the need to transfer clothes to the dryer.
