If you’re anything like us, you face the “What should I have for dinner?” question frequently and always end up going back to the same old places. So we wanted to share our favorite places to eat in the 417. We’ve made a list of our favorite drool-worthy dishes along with where you can find them.
SHELBY
Jimm’s Steakhouse & Pub
“I love that I can go to Jimm’s and not break the bank and STILL get treated like family. It’s clear that Jimm’s holds service standards just as high as their food quality standards are. If you go, you have to try the Bacon Wrapped Peppadew Peppers to start and the Bruleed Cheesecake to finish”
BRITTANY
Bambinos Cafe
“My favorite is Bambino’s! Favorite dish is their Thursday special, the Seafood Cavatelli. I love it because I’m a big seafood and pasta lover. It is alfredo sauce over shell pasta with shrimp and clams. SO GOOD!
I used to live in the Phelps Grove neighborhood where the original Bambino’s on Delmar is, so I would go there almost weekly. I love the atmosphere and free bread!”
Fun Fact: Brittany loves Bambinos so much she is even having them cater for her wedding
MADISON
Kai Sushi
“I was convinced that I hated sushi until I tried this place a few years back and now this is my favorite place in town! They offer a ton of happy hour specials and they also offer an awesome late night special deal(s). My favorite roll they have is their Yummy Roll, although they have a ton to choose from.”
ASHLEY
Wheelhouse
“Chicken Peanut Tacos…. yum yum yum. After every bite I can’t help but say mm mmmm mmm. Their peanut sauce is oh so very good. REALLY everything on their menu is fantastic. Looking for something out of the ordinary, their cauliflower wings are so flavorful!”
KIM
Metropolitan Grill
“Hands down our favorite restaurant is Metropolitan Grill. They have a sea bass that is to die for and their artichoke hearts are fantastic as well and chocolate martinis and they always have fabulous desserts. Shawn likes their meat pizza!”
BRANDI
RepMo Burger Co.
“My favorite restaurant is RepMo Burger Co. in Republic. Not only do I love supporting local, family owned businesses, but their food is top-notch. My go to item is their Bacon Cheeseburger. This is not your standard cheeseburger! It is a double patty burger with gobs of hickory smoked bacon (they aren’t skimpy with the bacon). The best part is the garlic aioli which adds the perfect amount of flavor to the burger leaving you wanting more.”
TYLER
J.O.B Public House
“J.O.B has a relaxed/fun atmosphere with great food and drink options. Not only is their standard menu great but they are also currently offering Grad School options for an even better variety.”
Go To’s:
“Full Ride Burger- Best burger in town!” “Italian Style Chicken Tenders- Although not the healthiest option, this ‘bar food’ staple is done at the highest level.”
BRYAN
Primas Mexican Kitchen
“Braised Pork has always been a favorite of mine, and they do it just right! We’ve eaten at Primas for years and it’s always been our favorite place to get Mexican food in Springfield.”
JOEL
Flame Steak House
“The service is always fantastic and the food is just as good! By far the best steaks in town, make sure you get the popovers. If you STILL haven’t had enough make sure you check out the red room lounge that is located in the basement”
